It may surprise some people to know that Debenhams is now offering a range of insurances in their personal finance section website. As well as offering a range of gift vouchers and store cards, Debenhams offers insurance for weddings, pets, homes, travel and cars as part of their range of financial services. Primarily known for being a high street retailer, Debenham’s as 145 stores across Britain and Ireland, like so many other high street chains has now expanded into providing insurance. Debenham’s claims to be able to save you money on your car insurance. Their website is relatively straightforward and easy to understand. Offering a competitive price from a variety of top insurers means that you can pick up benefits such as an online 5% discount, a courtesy car for if yours is in one of Debenhams approved garages being repaired. A personal accident cover of up to £5,000 and free windscreen repair to name but a few of the benefits which you should hope to receive on purchasing a policy. As with the other insurance companies you can also add on a list of optional extras such as legal cover of up to £100,00 and car breakdown cover in the United Kingdom and Europe.
If you are in need of immediate cover then you can apply for a policy online and have one up and running within minutes of completing the online form. There are three different types of cover for the customer to choose from which are fully comprehensive, third party and third party fire and theft. The customer can choose to pay for the policy in full in a one off yearly payment, or can arrange to pay in instalments, they do however make an addition charge of typical APR rate of 26.5%, this cost is spread over the year. You can pay the policy by direct debit or credit card. Debenhams only provide insurance on private cars and do not insure caravans, vans or motorbikes. If you are unsure with any aspect of the insurance and want to change your mind about taking it out, then you have a 14-day cooling off period in which to change your mind.
Should you need to make a claim at some point then there is a claim line, which is open Monday through to Friday from 8am until 6pm and Saturdays from 9am until 2 pm.
