History

Nationwide are probably best known for insuring homes as an addition to their mortgage services.  Over the years they have expanded the list of insurance products, which they offer, and they now offer insurance on travel, life and car insurances.

What makes them stand out

Nationwide offers a cover, which is extensive.  As well as all the discounts that they offer in the first year they also offer the chance to protect or guarantee your ‘no claim discount’, which comes in to play if you have built up four (or more) years.  They offer you the chance to protect it so long as there have been no more than two claims in a five-year period by the policyholder, or the policyholder can guarantee the ‘no claim discount’ for the life of the car insurance policy.  The Nationwide offers up to £100,000 motor legal expenses, which can be used to defend you in the case of a motoring prosecution against you, or for the recovery of uninsured losses in the case of a civil claim which is due to an accident which has involved the policy holder and has resulted in the injury or death to the claimant.  The Nationwide also offers a standard comprehensive insurance, which not only insures the policyholder but their spouse or civil partner for up to £10,000.  This can be claimed if either of the above-mentioned parties sustains an injury whilst travelling in the car.  The 10,000 can also be claimed if any of the three parties gets out of a car and it results in complete loss of sight in both or one eye, loss of limbs (permanent) or death.  The policy also offers breakdown recovery, and the policyholder has a choice of 5 levels of cover to choose from.

Nationwide offers every individual car insurance policy holder to tailor the policy to specifically suit their needs.
