Can I choose the hospital I want to go to if I have health insurance?

Private health insurers usually offer the customer a good range of private hospitals to choose from, when it comes to being an in-patient.  It is important that you check with your insurance company prior to making a claim, that you are eligible to stay in certain hospitals.  The insurers have usually approved the hospital prior to allowing the hospital on their books.  There are certain hospitals that will not be listed on your private health insurance.

It may surprise you to learn that you can actually pay for private treatment within the National Health Service within the United Kingdom, there are certain hospitals who offer private treatment as well as National Health treatment and some of these hospitals may be listed on your health insurance policy.

A private hospital aims to provide a professional, friendly and caring atmosphere for their patients, as well as offering patients the very highest of standards when it comes to modern health care.  Most private hospitals have had their facilities looked after and invested in, and take pride in offering the very best in scanning facilities, operating theatres and newly decorated and furbished bedrooms.  It is usual for consultants who are NHS registered to practice within the private sector.  So it could be that you have been on a waiting list for a certain consultant on the NHS, whom you can see straightaway privately.

Many private hospitals offer medical procedures such as:

•    Cosmetic surgery
•    Cataract removal
•    Hernia repairs
•    Joint replacements

And a whole host of other medical procedures.

If you are wanting to use a certain hospital if the unforeseen does happen then shop around the market before taking out the medical insurance, to ensure that you can use the hospital of choice at the end of the day.  For more information on private hospitals check out the worldwide web.
